THE ENERGY LIMIT: PHYSICISTS WILL MAKE STRANGELETS AND BLACK HOLES ON CHRISTMAS 2007.

The production of Micro-black holes at CERN risks the futureof the planet.
1. It is not science fiction, it will happen at CERN…
In a best-seller called ‘Earth’, 10 years ago, the American science fiction writer, Mr. Brin, considered the hypothesis that a micro black hole entered the Earth and swallowed it up. A team of scientists tried then to save the Earth of a catastrophe that would end all forms of life… Well, that was then, 10 years ago, our literary heroes were the good scientists trying to save the world. Now our mad scientists, the real ones, are trying to create that precise tiny black whole to destroy the world. And they have a big chance.
Facts are straight forward: In November 2007 the biggest particle collider of the world, the most expensive machine in history, will switch on at Geneva in the border between France and Switzerland. CERN, the Center for European Research in Nuclear Physics has spent 8 billion dollars building a tunnel of 27 kilometers buttressed with superconductive magnets that can accelerate gold atoms to the speed of light. They plan to concentrate all that energy in a micro-point of space-time to collapse and tear off the membrane of electromagnetic energy in which we exist, creating a black hole, in order to learn which of the 3 theories about black holes is more certain: Einstein’s theory, which forecasts the exponential growth of the black hole as it sucks in the electromagnetic world in which we live; cosmological theories that predict a mini-big bang explosion of enormous proportions; or Mr. Hawking’s theory, the only one that has failed all experimental tests, and the only one which predicts the harmless death of the black hole.
Physicists expect however that the black holes they create will be very tiny and explode soon evaporating ‘only’ the mass of 4.000 protons, according to those rather speculative Hawking’s calculations… But it is by no means clear that the black hole will not grow first and explode with a far bigger mass, as it happened in a recent pre-experiment at Brookhaven, where a tightly packed lump of quarks made with an 8th of the energy that will be used in CERN next year - a proto-black hole without enough density to become stable - grew 10 times faster and lived 10 thousand times longer than expected, before exploding into a micro-big bang. All those experiments prove that the dangers are much higher than those officially given by CERN. And yet that is a relatively ‘positive scenario’ equivalent to the Uranium ‘small’ bomb. Since most physicists believe that black holes fusion quarks together like H-bombs fusion atoms into helium, releasing much more energy than any A-Bomb or exploding black hole does. Indeed, if a Hydrogen bomb fusions helium and releases the excess of energy it doesn’t need into the atmosphere, a black hole will fusion quark matter, converting the excess of mass it doesn’t need into pure energy, as all cosmological black holes we have observed do. Then the entire planetary mass could be swallowed by the black hole at an exponential rate within a period that might last, according to different theories on black hole fusion growth, from a fraction of a second to a couple of years, in which the entire human race will evaporate and disappear. In that case the thin, ghostly cover of electromagnetic information we call life or reality will fade away and the entire Earth that once was a blue planet teaming with the beauty and diversity of life will become packed into a thick, smallish black hole of the size of… a sugar cube.
You might raise your eyebrows now. Is this Science Fiction? Am I reading a catastrophist best-seller book with no scientific foundations whatsoever? The answer is no. This is not a science fiction book, but a well documented work by a scientist that has no implications in the experiments but knows perfectly that a denounce book against Nuclear Physicists, the spoiled elite of our profession, due to his connections with well-oiled military budgets, might end briskly his theoretical career and growing prestige as a System Scientist and Cosmologist. And yet, given the high risks for our lives the experiment implies, my condition of human being comes before my condition of a scientist. In a few words, I am trading my intellectual prestige for my ethical concerns, as I strongly believe the risks involved are so huge that no scientific discovery can justify them. Of course a single scientist cannot do much by himself; but I am writing this book on the hope that other scientists, aware of the risks involved, will come ‘out of the closet’ and denounce those experiments. Because those risks are real and far greater than the ‘politically correct’ statements issued by the official ‘scientific establishment’ recognize:A recent poll carried among physicists by the ‘Risk-forum Assessment Group’, working to increase public awareness on this matter, estimated at 16% the risk of creation of a stable black hole that might destroy the planet (), with several physicists reducing or expanding that risk, according to which of the alternative theories on black holes they support. In simple words, a 16% chance of extinction is a shot out of 6. Which means that Nuclear Physicists are playing a Russian Roulette shot with the whole of mankind, you, me and everybody else… instead of finding the ultimate truths of the Universe, as they say they are doing… It is not new. During the XX century around ¾ of all Nuclear Physicists worked in the army, manufacturing atomic bombs. So in many ways what is happening at CERN is the final epilogue of Cold War madness, even if the Nuclear era is gone. Like those mine fields left behind when a war ends, which still kill without warning hundreds in the incoming years, the world faces now an unexpected menace from an old war we thought we had left behind…
2. And it will be done by the people who make atomic bombs…
That scientists might destroy the world is nothing new. It has become such a tradition for the kin observer of history that Genesis, the oldest book of mankind, started with a parable about the Tree of Life confronted against the Tree of Science. In recent years Hollywood has shown us the devastating effects of mad scientists: Robotists creating machines that overcome mankind or bomb-makers that trigger an atomic, terrorist explosion, are common plots of films made in the past 20 years. Perhaps the classic of the genre was ‘Dr. Strangelove’, a film in which Peter Sellers plays a mad scientist that wants to start the war at all price, to prove his expertise. It seems it was based in Edward Teller, the mad scientist, who made the Hydrogen bomb and latter sponsored MAD, the Mutual Assured Destruction strategy of the cold war, which affirmed that the only way to stop the destruction of mankind was to produce so many atomic weapons that the enemy would chicken out and war would never start.
You might think the strategy worked out because we have not been destroyed by a Nuclear war. However the bombs are still there, many of them in the power of the Russian Army which might have sold some of them in the past decades (an important amount of enriched Uranium remains ‘missed’ from the MINATOM facilities that stored it since the fall of communism). Further on, it was recently disclosed by the American and Russian Military that the Cuban Missile crisis had actually started III W.W. A Russian submarine under heavy shelling by the American army was given the order to fire a nuclear missile. But the commander of the submarine refused to follow orders. And when things calmed down the order was retired. Had he followed his commander-in-chief MAD would have achieved his goals. And yet when the President of CERN gives the order to fire the super-collider golden atoms to manufacture the first black hole, humanity will find itself in a similar situation with a difference. If the black hole eats the Earth, it won’t be only the end of human civilization, as the III W.W. could have been, but the end of the species with no chance to rebuild a new world ()… I quote here this story because I want the reader to understand the continuity between both phenomena. Since Teller, still revered as a technological genius among nuclear Physicists, is not an exception… His best friend and co-father of the H-bomb was Wheeler, the man who also gave the name to black holes and affirmed they had no hair; that is, they were so powerful and destructive that they erase all the information of our world except its rotational movement and mass. When he saw the destruction the bomb caused, he ‘regretted not to have built it before’ () and bomb Japan with it.
Unfortunately, the students of Teller and Wheeler, who did not destroy the world in an atomic holocaust, became the main theorists of Black Hole Physics and now are at it again, trying to build once more the ultimate weapon of mass destruction. In the 50s Teller sponsored the ultimate weapon when he realized that a Hydrogen bomb could have any size he wanted just accumulating a bigger quantity of Hydrogen material in the center, surrounded by an Uranium Bomb. So the Americans and Russians started to make them bigger and bigger. Yet, it was obvious the process could not continue because those tests would ultimately destroy the world without even entering a state of war and so the Ultimate H-Bomb was not constructed.
Now, reality overcomes fiction as it turns out that the Ultimate Weapon might after all be fired without any real purpose at all but merely out of the routines and dogmas of The Tree of Science, with his cult to technological machines and weapons, as the ultimate tool of knowledge and power. Indeed, Genesis and Hollywood Sci-Fi films are not only an entertaining fantasy or myth, but rather a parable on the future. When Genesis was written, the first professional armies with hard metal technology, bronze, had just appeared in history, destroying the peaceful Neolithic cultures of the fertile crescent and its most precious city, Ur, in which the book was written. So the writer of Genesis made a parable about the extinctive capacity of technological machines, made of metal-atoms harder than those that make us. The parable of the Tree of Science and the capital sin of man was not about sex, but about technology as a careful analysis of the text reveals. Adam and his son Cain, became after the expulsion of the life paradise makers of swords and Cain, which means ‘smith’ in the old language did it again killing Abel.
Ever since, once and again, the pattern of technological advancement, discovery of new weapons, war and destruction has been repeated in a rather monotonous way that discounts all risks till things blow up in our faces. Then everybody regrets what it just happened. So in the aftermath of Hiroshima Einstein, Bethe or Oppenheimer claimed to be pacifists, after making the atomic bomb… I rather prefer the sincerity of Teller who said ‘no amount of political and religious mongering will justify the monstrosity of what we are doing ()’. Today the dogmatic attitude of nuclear physicists with his well constructed walls against scholar criticism prevents also a serious debate on those matters. It is just politically, economically and military incorrect to denounce those experiments. So human fears are expressed through the new myths and parables of film making. And indeed, this book is accompanied by a documentary to reach a wider audience on a matter of which mankind should be at least informed and asked permission for.Yet a parable is not taken seriously by most people and so the effect of films and biblical texts are diluted. That is why I write also this book with no parables, but right on the facts, answering in depth why despite all those risks, warnings and parables, physicists still will go on making black holes while the rest of us, human beings after all more concerned with life than dogma, will cheer Christmas holidays and reunite with families to spend quality time together.
3. Human incompetence at best. CERN didn’t know it would make black holes.
It is when we answer objectively that question when mankind has reasons for deep concern. Since the only justifiable answer – the fact that the experiment implies not risk at all – is shattered by a careful, scientific analysis of black hole theory and especially by the proved experimental facts we know about cosmological black holes, the only black holes we have studied in detail. Since all of them, either explode entire stars within seconds, creating the most energetic events of the Universe, the so-called novas, or swallow nearby matter in a vortex that feeds on space at light speed… How it is then possible that consciously in a deliberate manner a group of civilized people will plan to create the most devastating force of the Universe in the backyard of the Earth? Are not they human beings like all of us, with families to care, presents to buy and banquets to have in those dates? And the answer is: certainly they do not want consciously to extinguish mankind and have not in a deliberate manner planned to devastate the Earth with a black hole. Because CERN ignored that the LHC collider was going to create black holes in the first place. So physicists constructed it without being aware of the risks involved. It is a fact that we know very little about black hole creation. So the idea that a black hole could pop up in the beautiful prairies of La Provence was not even considered by a team of scientists and technocrats managing around 8 billion dollars, the cost of the LHC collider, the most ultra expensive machine ever created by humanity, because according to Mr. Hawking and other old dinosaurs of Physics, black holes needed far more energy to be created. So all was quiet in the Western Front.
Just imagine what kind of spinal shock CERN physicists felt when one of the brightest physicists of the present generation, Dimopoulos, made his calculations based in the Russian Doll analogy and showed that the LHC ‘gun’ could be producing black holes at the outstanding rate of one every second (3)… Soon a shower of papers came in backing Dimopoulos’ calculus (2). The obvious conclusion was that under such risks, the LHC had to be shut down, the project cancelled and around 50.000 people estimated to be working in CERN and related industries find jobs elsewhere. But that reasonable decision that anyone would have taken in any other discipline of knowledge, was unconceivable, in the most lethal industry ever invented by mankind.
It was just, once discovered, another ‘routine’ of the military industry, another small step forward for knowledge and a huge step backwards for mankind, paraphrasing the moon’s adventure. Since indeed, the tree of science is dual in its fruits and so we get sometimes small steps for people that give huge profits to mankind and sometimes we get the inverse fruits, the eviL=Anti-live ones that extinguish us. This is the case of the Nuclear Industry accustomed to produce evil fruits. Now it has found the darkest of all fruits, and it will produce them since their scientific prestige and jobs are at stake. So it is better to hide all evidence against the risks of the experiment, as most politicians do when they make a big mistake...
Indeed, CERN was first puzzled and embarrassed but soon it searched among the multiple theories about black holes the only one that said they were harmless: Mr. Hawking’s idea about black holes being so hot that instead of boiling our Universe as we constantly see them doing, would evaporate harmlessly like an ice cube in a summer day. But Hawking’s evaporation is according to many physicists just a speculative theory that denies Einstein’s Relativity, which most physicists consider the most important advance of Physics in the last 4 centuries. For example, a prestigious University, Berkeley, runs a forum for students on cosmological questions and this is what they say about Hawking’s evaporation of black holes ():
‘Our current theories simply aren't good enough to let us tell for sure one way or the other. As long as I'm disclaiming, let me add that the entire subject of black hole evaporation is extremely speculative. It involves figuring out how to perform quantum-mechanical (or rather quantum-field-theoretic) calculations in curved space-time, which is a very difficult task, and which gives results that are essentially impossible to test with experiments. Physicists *think* that we have the correct theories to make predictions about black hole evaporation, but without experimental tests it's impossible to be sure.’
That is the core of the matter, against the well proved prestige and experimental facts of Einstein’s Theory, CERN has taken on the only article that defends his ‘routine’. The problem is that Mr. Hawking’s speculations clearly opposes, as we shall see latter in detail, the laws of Relativity and Thermodynamics that are the very foundation of physics, and all physicists, including those at CERN consider proved truths. And has not found any experimental prove whatsoever in 30 years of exhaustive research. Add 1+1, falsity and lack of proves and you call that a hoax, of which the history of science is full of cases. Indeed, hot things don’t evaporate but according to Thermodynamics, as they cool down they boil around the water over which they fall. In the case of black holes they boil the electromagnetic membrane of our world as we see happening in stellar black holes that suck in an electromagnetic world in a few minutes. While according to relativity they do so regardless of size. So many think that the black hole at CERN will feed and evaporate our world, growing in mass exponentially, till reaching an equilibrium with the temperature of the Universe, at 2.7 K.; which is close to the temperature that a black hole with the mass of the Earth would have after swallowing it in…
And yet, despite all those warnings and coincidences, despite the awesome respect that Einstein inspires, despite the fact that we have never seen a black hole evaporating in 30 years, the only statement of CERN regarding the risks of extinction involved in the experiment is, that ‘black holes evaporate via thermal processes’ (that is, according to Hawking), 6 words without any prove whatsoever that rely all the responsibility of the fate of mankind in a flawed, proved false article written 30 years ago… That is what CERN has to offer to calm humanity of a possible genocide… The proper response to CERN’s awesome irresponsibility and criminal negligence is this: Why should I believe now CERN when a mere 2 years ago they were so dumb that didn’t even know they were constructing a black hole factory in the first place? Obviously they have made a huge mistake, an 8 billion dollar mistake; but we still can avoid a bigger mistake: to switch on a possible Doomsday machine on Christmas day.
4. Denial doesn’t solve human incompetence. It just makes it worse.
The tragedy of CERN is the sort of accidental, ridiculous reasons that most humans tend to dismiss, but are at the bottom of most tragedies in history performed by ignorant, arrogant, ambitious, irresponsible leaders, from the times of Sargon and Caligula, all the way up to Hitler, Stalin, the makers of the Atomic bomb and some would say part of our present leadership... When that historic perspective on the causes of global tragedies becomes clear and we judge Physicists as normal human beings, not the kind of heroic genius we love to think they are, it is easy to find the ‘accidental reason’ of the black hole experiment, which simply stated, is this:
We have seen it all happened before. Mr. Bush was warned about the growing possibility that New Orleans will go underwater, but he didn’t do anything on time, worried by his family matters (namely the war in Iraq against daddy’s favorite dictator) and so when tragedy came closer and time was scarce, he hid those informs and denied them, till a recorded tape was released, showing he knew the risks and was informed on daily basis. In that respect it is interesting to notice the cover of Scientific American in the issue following the fall of the Twin Towers (10/2001). No, it was not about the WTC tragedy. It said instead: ‘Drowning New Orleans: a major hurricane could swamp the city under 20 feet of water, killing thousands’… ‘New Orleans is ringed with levees that fend off the river from the south and the lake from the north. Most of the city has sunk below sea level, forming a bowl that fills even during routine rainstorms. A hurricane driven a sea surge from the east would make the lake overflow drowning the city. SOLUTION: build gates to block the Gulf of Mexico’s access to Lake Pontchartrain’. Yet nothing was done because: ‘since the late 1980s Louisiana’s senators have made various pleas to congress to fund massive, remedial work. But they were not backed by a unified voice. LSU had its surge models, and the Corps had others, competition abounded as to whose specific models would be most effective. Through the 90s we only received 40 million $ a year…’ While billions we might ad, went into military research, including a billion given to CERN for the construction of the Large Hadron Collider.
In the same issue we read: ‘refuges for life in a Hostile Universe’: only part of our galaxy is fit for advanced life’. Indeed, we are not the center of the Universe, nor can we prevent the disasters of the powerful systems of energy created in Nature, from hurricanes to black holes, when they confront our fragile forms of life.
The account of human incompetence and the tragedies it has caused to history could fill an entire encyclopedia, but we will stop here. We just want to highlight some common teachings of both historic tragedies:
- Even the most obvious facts can be argued on theoretical basis, as most theories have an anti-theory, including the obvious fact that black holes swallow all matter around them. But when life is at risk, it is better not to argue too long and act up to prevent those potential risks on time. Certainly after the Katrina had passed, the Corps, the LSU and even Mr. Bush would have loved to act up far before, instead of bickering at each other’s big egos.
- People make subjective, optimist judgments on their work and live hood and if things go wrong they deny the obvious facts and stick to their mistakes like if that attitude would validate their previous errors. The military truly believes to help mankind in his survival when it is the biggest cause of collective death. So in the same manner Mr. Bush plunged into the Iraq war with a mixture of optimism, arrogance and ignorance, seeking ‘military action’ to solve social and political problems, and now denies any failure and continues stubbornly with the entire Republican party rallying behind, the ‘war experiment’, the community of high energy physicists is going ahead with CERN’s black hole experiment, accustomed as they are to make atomic bombs and other niceties, while denying all risks and errors, hoping that nothing happens with the Earth; while the rest of the Physicists’ community looks to the other side.
-Yet it would be a mistake not to criticize a bad president and it would be an error not to stop a lethal experiment of what is increasingly called among experts, ‘pathological Physics’. The rest of the scientific community should not play on the alibi of ‘professional solidarity’ in this kind of matters as the Americans or any other voting population should not re-elect a president which doesn’t hold the minimal standards of morality, know-how and professional efficiency needed in any position of ‘vital responsibility’, as the one Mr. Bush or CERN scientists are holding today. Since it is quite evident that neither Mr. Bush nor CERN have shown the professional knowledge required to anticipate the ‘collateral effects’ of their experiments, namely the death of thousands and perhaps billions of human beings in a tragedy that can be still aborted in time. This seems to me a self-evident truth, despite the fact that both Mr. Bush and CERN scientists remain adamant on their dogmatic predictions about the minimal risks for human life of the Iraq war and the black hole experiment. Since just 2 years ago those very same scientists so reassuring today, were so dumb that they didn’t even know their machine could produce black holes…
Indeed, the truth beyond the smoking gun of complex equations and chutzpah statements is that we hardly know anything about black holes, since they are invisible and so are the microcosmic distances in which black holes interact with space and time, erasing, folding and absorbing all what is within the reach of its vortex. So basically what the LHC and other big particle guns do in the midst of so much uncertainty is to smash atoms with brute force at invisible distances and then physicists try to find among the debris clues about what was inside. It is more or less like pointing a big missile to the moon and then trying to look with a telescope to what was left out of the explosion to figure what was the previous form of the mountain they blew up there. Since the microscopic distance to the atomic debris left by the collider is so far away, remote and difficult to evaluate as the far distances reached by our telescopes. So those experiments are a blind attempt to resolve the nature of the ultimate energy of the Universe, and peer if possible inside black holes, breaking them into parts, as our theorists can’t agree about their nature, even in paper... Plainly speaking, the LHC is sort of a Jurassic Park experiment that instead of a Tyrannosaurus Rex will resurrect the most dangerous predator of the galaxy. And so it appeals to particle physicists, as Jurassic Park appealed to the marriage couple of Dinosaur experts in the film…Yet the LHC won’t release a relatively harmless Rex. We might be unleashing the most powerful predator force of the entire Universe… the mighty black hole, the ever pervading, dominant species of the cosmos…
5. The religion of Physics: energy and the forces of the Universe.
We have given some hints on the routines and military reasons that make the experiment at CERN possible. However the cold war is over and Europe is not a major player in the present war. So the ultimate reasons of MAD II, the new strategy of Mutual Assured Destruction, have to be found also in deeper, theoretical reasons that go back to the very foundation of Physics as a science with clear limits in his quest for Universal knowledge. Indeed, from a theoretical perspective the reason why physicists make a black hole, given the risks implied, is a dogmatic, quasi-religious ideology that makes physicists believe that energy holds the meaning of the Universe. Since they describe reality in terms of entropy, the arrow of disorder, chaos and death of Reality, while denying dogmatically the arrow of information that creates the order and complexities of life. That is why physicists when talking of the quest for a Unification Theory, a task in which even Einstein failed, as it is impossible to achieve with a single arrow in a dual, energy/information Universe, they merely try to unify the forces of energy, regardless of the biological forces and flows of information that make up living matter and explain human, social behavior. This indifference to life and all forms of existence that are not mere energy, explains the importance for the ‘Religion of Physics’ of seeing closer the black hole, the most energetic system of the Universe. We will prove in the next chapters that concept outdated, from a strict theoretical perspective, as out of place in modern philosophy of science, as the epicycles of Ptolemy used to describe the movements of the planets… around the Earth.
We can study and dismiss that ideology also from a technical, historic perspective, probably far more telling of its direct meaning: The first Physicist in History was Archimedes, who manufactured weapons for the Tyrant of Syracuse in Sicily and confronted the entire Roman army with them. He was famous for his system of pulleys and hooks used to lift heavy loads such as the Roman war ships, crashing them afterwards against the shallow waters of the port. He made catapults and huge mirrors that concentrated the energy of the sun in the sail of those ships, burning them, for his patron and friend Hiero II, till the Romans breached the walls of the city In return, Marcellus, a soldier, murdered Archimedes despite the prohibition of Roman Generals, who wanted him to manufacture for them those weapons that released enough energy to kill hundreds of human beings.
In the modern age, the first physicist was Galileo, whose first book was called ‘Le operazioni del compasso geometrico e militare’, a Treaty on Ballistics and the use of compasses to study how canon balls could be shot at greater distance thanks to its parabolic trajectory. Since the fundamental profession of physicists has been for many years and still is to provide correct calculus for the military and develop weapons with higher energy, it is evident that energy became since the beginning of Physics, the fundamental substance of his study. So the main law of Physics is called the Law of Conservation of Energy and the main Dogma of Physicists is the existence of a single arrow of Energy or Entropy in the Universe. Both are however biased concepts, which ignore the equivalent Laws of Conservation of Information and the arrow of information and life that creates the complex structures we observe all around in the Universe.
Unfortunately this self-evident truth about the shortcomings of theoretical physics to understand Nature, has been long ignored given the awesome, successful record of Physics in providing mankind with new energies to foster our way of life. But as all in the Universe, energy has 2 sides: it can kill or feed a certain species. In the case of Physics, the duality of Energy is self-evident. On one hand it provides us with energy to move our machines. On the other hand it makes bigger bombs and more destructive technologies. A task in which Nuclear Physicists have excelled all others. Since, in fact, the first colliders were used to split the atom and research the atomic bomb. Thus from the military practical perspective, the creation of a black hole at CERN (The European Center for Research in Nuclear Physics) is merely the next stage of the creation of ever more powerful bombs, probing on the arrow of Energy in the Universe. Since a black hole bomb is the ultimate weapon of mass destruction, which might only be shot once because it could annihilate all the matter of the Earth.
CHAPTER 2.
HOW STRANGELETS AND BLACK HOLES ERASE OUR WORLD

Despite dogmatic theory that expected a expanding, dying gas, a super fluid, superconductive quark ball, a quasi-stable black hole was manufactured at RHIC with a 10th of the energy it will be available at CERN to make bigger, more stable species.
1. Russian dolls: the fractal Universe and its energy layers…
All theories and dogmas, not only those hold by religious people, produce fundamentalist believers that risk their life to come closer to their particular God. This seems to be also the historic fact regarding fundamentalist scientists, heroes of the search of truth, as religious people are, either when they are wrong or when they are right. For example, Mr. Alfred Wegener, the discoverer of the continental drift, a theory despised by geologists not on reason but on the fact that Mr. Wegener was not a geologist and hence he was not authorized by the establishment to talk about geology, went to the poles to prove it and died of cold. 50 years latter when Geologists came to the same conclusions he became a hero of science. Problem is that Wegener only risked his life. And Cern is risking without consent the life of all of us, dismissed as ‘ignorant people’ that cannot talk on Physics unless we are ‘authorized’ by CERN… However as a leading International System scientist () whose job is precisely to harmonize the laws of Physics and Biology to achieve a rational vision of the Universe, that argument doesn’t hold in my case… My approach to science is in any case different from abstract scientists: biology has taught me that life is the supreme good, not abstract knowledge; while the balance between energy and information, life and thought, a far more complex, rich and powerful force in Nature than the extremes of energy or information that fundamentalist physicists and robotists sponsor. That might sound as the golden mean of Buddha, the ‘mens sana in corpore sanum’ of the Greeks, far removed from Physic laws but it also happens in physics. In fact, the death of a particle happens according to some mathematical equations called the Lorentz transformations when the particle approaches to the awesome energies of light speed, exploding into pure energy, (E=Mc2). So in many ways the job of CERN is to kill particles by an excess of energy and now to spread that death wave to the entire planet Earth by ‘releasing energies never seen on the Universe since the big-bang’ according to the director of the Brookhaven super-collider…
So from the perspective of Theoretical Physics the creation of a black hole represents just the ultimate quest for the Holy Grial of energy, the single God of Physics, in the tradition of his founders. As it means to cross its last frontier, breaking the very same fabric of space that stores in the vacuum the primordial energy of the Universe. Indeed, Physicists feel they are coming closer to the final energy layer of the Universe: the very fabric of space and time they plan to break with the creation of the black hole. Since CERN experiments that might produce according to the last calculus, a black hole every second, will release the purest form of condensed, material energy, the quark, the inner component of atoms. Yet if the previous scale of energy untapped by Physicists, the atomic scale, allowed the creation of Atomic and Hydrogen bombs, a million times more powerful than the most powerful chemical explosive (dynamite), most experts coincide that a black hole, which is basically a quark bomb, will be a million times more powerful than a Hydrogen bomb. Let us explain why with a comparison I have been using in my theoretical work for the past 20 years, the analogy of the Russian Dolls: The Universe is a fractal system made of discontinuous layers of energy and matter that diminish in scale and size, as they are enclosed into each other, like those thin, hollow Russian dolls that keep inside smaller, thicker Russian dolls. Though the outer Russian doll is bigger in space, it is a thin layer of matter that has actually far less mass-energy than the final inner Russian doll, which is not hollow but a densely packed, minute doll, made of thick wood. So it happens to the Universe. In that sense we can talk of 3 fundamental Russian Dolls of diminishing size and higher energy.
- The chemical, molecular Russian Doll which a TNT bomb dissolves into energy
- The electromagnetic, smaller, more energetic Russian Doll in which we exist.
- Which is lighter than the thicker, gravitational doll, the world of quarks and black holes that we trap within us, covered by the thin layers of the atom.
All what you see around including yourself belongs to the ‘thin, electromagnetic, molecular cover’ that surrounds the inner Russian dolls of the atomic Nuclei and its quarks. The world you see is in fact a ‘ghost’, like a watercolor made with a very thin layer of pigment, over the thicker, white paper that provides the support for the painting. So happens to our world, a very thin chemical and electromagnetic cover of energy that bonds molecules and atoms together and CERN plans to dissolve to see inside the gravitational world of quarks. The problem is that when we tear off the fabric of our world, smashing atoms at light speed, we might not be able to patch it together, as we will have a hard time putting together a Russian Doll if the method to study the inner doll is to stamp the bigger one into the floor, breaking it into infinite pieces. How this will be done is easier to understand when we consider how the 2 other layers, the chemical and nuclear layer, are evaporated by chemical and atomic bombs.
When we release chemical energy by breaking the molecular layer, as in vapor machines, we just transform that thin external layer of chemical bondages into energy. Since according to the famous Einstein’s equation, E=Mc2, mass is a condensate of energy and so we can transform one into the other. And when we do so, we evaporate mass into pure energy. Then if we go into the inner Russian doll and we break the thicker cover of an atom, we release around a million times more energy. It is the difference between a chemical explosive like TNT and a Hydrogen bomb, whose energy is measured accordingly with a unit of power called a megaton (equivalent to a million tons of TNT). Now we can do this in two ways: One is to fission and break in 2 parts the uranium atomic cover, one of the thickest of them all as it is a very heavy atom. Those parts will latter reorganize themselves and recreate 2 thinner covers, becoming 2 smaller atoms; while the rest of the cover-mass evaporates into pure energy. It is the A-Bomb. But there is a more powerful way of converting the atomic cover into energy when we fusion 2 atomic covers into one. Since then we convert an entire Russian doll into energy. It is the Hydrogen bomb that converts several hydrogen atoms into a single helium.
But the game of transforming doll covers into energy doesn’t finish with the atomic bomb. Because the smaller components of the atom, neutrons and protons are actually also a hollow Russian doll that keeps inside the ultimate smallish, all solid doll, the quark. So if we get rid of the proton cover we unleash a lot of energy. And again this can be done in two ways. One is to explode the nucleus cover converted into energy and then we have a quark bomb which is a million times more powerful than a hydrogen bomb. Indeed, a black hole bomb is basically a quark bomb that opens up a new layer of Universal energy, as the atomic bomb opened up the energy of the previous layer, that of the atomic nucleus and the chemical bomb dissolves into energy, the most external, outer layer of molecular electrons… Thus if things go according to previous experiences and cosmological data on black hole explosions those CERN black holes might create a black hole bomb that depending on his final mass at the moment of explosion it can literally evaporate Switzerland, in which border the experiment is taking place and make the Earth’s atmosphere poisonous for mankind. For example, the explosion of a black hole with the size of a proton (and the mass of a mountain), would literally evaporate the moon…
There are, in fact, 2 levels of electromagnetic destruction in the process of reaching the density of matter proper of a black hole. The first level squeezes all electrons within the atomic nucleus, creating a Neutron star in which protons and electrons (the extended, electromagnetic version of the atom) collapse into neutrons (a squeezed atom that occupies a sphere 1000 times smaller in radius). The result is a star made of atomic nuclei and quarks of a denser family of matter (strange quarks). The final level happens when even the nuclei cover of neutrons dissolves and quarks lump together as a super fluid, creating a black hole. Both levels of matter concentration are extremely dangerous as both destroy our Russian World Doll. And both can be reached in particle accelerators, triggering a chain reaction that will convert the rest of the Earth’s matter into a small neutron star made of strange, heavy quark particles called Strangelets, or a black hole made, very likely, of super-fluid bosonic quarks (quarks perfectly ordered moving at enormous speeds in a very reduced space)… The chances of any of those doomsday scenarios are very high, much higher than abstract calculations, on the view of partial experiments that took place last year at Brookhaven’s accelerator in New York where both, a proto-black hole and a proto-strangelet were produced (). Indeed, in one of those experiments in Brookhaven an enormous quantity of ‘strange quarks’ appeared. So we almost crossed that threshold of extinction, creating strange matter, a gluon-quark quasi-stable super-fluid liquid, with an enormous density and quantity of strange quarks, the matter of a neutron star, the state of matter that theoreticians consider the previous stage to the creation of a black hole that can easily provoke a chain reaction and destroy all normal matter on Earth.
Thanks God it was an undernourished lump of strange matter with less energy than the one needed to manufacture stable one. But CERN will deliver not one but 7 Tera-electron volts and release in the collisions between gold atoms 1000 Tera-electrons, which means around 1000 times more energy, a very significant quantic jump of energy power. Thus it is likely that CERN with a range between 10 and one thousand times more energy will cross the threshold of stability needed to make a lump of strange matter, in a runaway reaction that will convert the planet into a neutron star or even worse, a black hole... The experimental prove that both, strangelets that kill matter and black holes that swallow it, are far easier to create and more dangerous than expected is available to any reader on the web ()… Let us consider those direct reports of the RHIC experiments where strange matter showed up in quantities never seen before…
2. First warning. Strangelets.
Strange Matter was not at all what the RHIC's Risk Assessment Report had expected. According to that report the chances to create a strangelet composed of several strange quarks was 1 in 6 million… Nonsense. It is obviously a false assessment, because the number of strange quarks present in the liquid was enormous and the thesis, considered dogma in that Risk Assessment - that strange quarks will expand as a gas and never had a chance to come together - was false: the quarks stayed together for time enough to form complex particles. Fortunately they were mostly the usual protons, neutrons, anti-particles and a few dual strange quark combinations. So we might have been very lucky despite obtaining results totally different from the ‘experts’ opinion. Indeed, Sheldon Glasgow, a Nobel Prize, put those ‘expert’s’ opinions in his own words:
‘If strangelets exist (which is conceivable) and if they form reasonably stable lumps which is unlikely) and if they are negatively charged (through the theory strongly favors positive charges), and if tiny strangelets can be created at the RHIC (which is exceedingly unlikely) then there might just be a problem. A new-born strangelet could engulf atomic nuclei, growing relentlessly and ultimately consuming the entire Earth. The word unlikely however many times it is repeated just isn’t enough to assuage our fears of this total disaster’.
Now, a strange particle able to feed on Earth would consist of an up and down quark, which are the quarks that make every atom of our body and a 3rd, heavier, ‘strange quark’ with negative charge. This is ‘very unlikely’ according to Sheldon. Chances are one in 6 million according to the RHIC assessment. Sure, that is dogmatic theory at best… But the empirical news, taken from the very same RHIC public relationships department, after the experiment was hold, were these:
Brookhaven Physicists Produce "Doubly Strange Nuclei." by Karen McNulty Walsh
Physicists from the U.S. Department of Energy at Brookhaven National Laboratory report the first large-scale production of nuclei containing two strange quarks. Strange science has taken a great leap forward at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory. There, physicists have produced a significant number of "doubly strange nuclei," or nuclei containing two strange quarks. Studies of these nuclei will help scientists explore the forces between nuclear particles, particularly within so-called strange matter, and may contribute to a better understanding of neutron stars, the super dense remains of burnt-out stars, which are thought to contain large quantities of strange quarks. 50 physicists collaborating on the experiment, who represent 15 institutions in six countries, describe their findings in an upcoming issue of Physical Review Letters.
"This is the 1st experiment to produce large numbers of these doubly strange nuclei," said Adam Rusek, a co-spokesperson for the Brookhaven collaboration. 4 previous experiments conducted over the past 40 years in the U.S., Europe, and Japan have produced one such nucleus each, with varying degrees of certainty. In the current publication, which is based on data taken in 1998, the Brookhaven collaboration describes 30 to 40 events out of several hundred produced. "That's enough events to begin a study using statistical techniques," Rusek said.
To create the nuclei, the scientists aim the world's most intense proton beam - produced at one of Brookhaven's particle accelerators, the Alternating Gradient Synchrotron - at a tungsten target. From the particles produced in those collisions, the scientists separate out an extremely intense beam of negatively charged kaons, which are each composed of one "strange" quark and one "up" antiquark. When these negative kaons then strike a beryllium target and interact with its protons, some of the energy is converted into new strange quarks and strange antiquarks. These quarks then regroup to form a variety of particles, some of which continue to interact. Occasionally, a structure containing a proton, a neutron, and two lambda particles (each composed of one up, one down, and one strange quark) is formed. This double-lambda structure, with its two strange quarks, is the observed doubly strange nucleus. Detecting the formation of this strange species is no easy task. It's more like finding a subatomic needle in a particle-soup haystack. For one thing, many other species are produced in the collisions. Plus, the scientists can't "see" the double lambda structure directly. Instead, they look for pions, a subatomic product the lambdas emit as they decay in less than one billionth of a second. Furthermore, in order to infer that the pions came from a nucleus containing two lambdas, there must be two pion decay signals at very specific energies. Sophisticated computers and careful analyses helped narrow the search from 100 million potentially interesting events, to 100.000 where two strange quarks were produced, to the 30 to 40 where those two strange quarks existed for a fleeting instant inside the same nucleus. "The most important part is eliminating all the other possible explanations for these events," said Sidney Kahana, a theoretical physicist at Brookhaven. "We're left with this double lambda species as the only explanation," he said. Now that they believe they have a reliable method for producing the double lambda species, the scientists would like to produce more so they can get better measurements of the binding energy or force of interaction between the two lambda particles. "We can use this nucleus as a laboratory in which the two lambdas can be held together long enough to study," Kahana said. Based on the current data, the interaction between lambdas appears to be rather weak - possibly too weak for the two particles to merge to produce a postulated, six-quark structure called an H particle. But further experiments are necessary, the scientists say. The interaction between lambdas may also offer insight into the properties of neutron stars, which are thought to contain vast numbers of strange particles, including lambdas. Neutron stars are the only place in the universe scientists believe such strange matter exists in a stable form. With the ability to produce appreciable numbers of doubly strange nuclei, "Brookhaven is now the best place in the world to study strange matter," said Morgan May, who leads the strangeness nuclear physics program at Brookhaven.’
Thus again, all theoretic predictions were shattered, since the collider made 2-strange quark particles negatively charged …Perhaps for that reasons, wisely, the American government, with the excuse of an excessive cost, since when at work the collider spends more energy than the nearby city of Watling, has reduced the number of days the RHIC will be working each year to a 1/3rd of the original ones (though unfortunately a nutty billionaire from New York, gave them a few million dollars to keep doing their thing, so the experiments are again on track). The disaster scenario is this: one strangelet hits a nucleus, catalyzing its immediate conversion to strange matter a predatory form of matter, far more complex than ours, which as iron cuts the weaker flesh, will cut and transform living matter into dead matter. Since each transformation of normal matter into strange matter liberates energy, and sends pieces (more strangelets) flying in all directions. These merge with other nuclei and convert them, leading to a chain reaction, at the end of which all the nuclei of all the atoms have been converted, and Earth has been reduced to a hot cloud of strangelets. The general belief is that this would not happen, because it is expected that strangelets, like nuclei, are positively charged, so they are electrostatically repelled by nuclei, and would rarely merge with them. However it is obvious that we are just a step before the creation of the first negative charged strangelet, since the lambda particles found in RHIC had 2 strange quarks and were negative charged. The small step left to cross to create strange matter might be a small step forward for science, indeed, but a huge step backwards for all forms of life in this planet.
And yet dogma still remains. Indeed, the scariest truth about the previous article is the silence about the risks involved, which are no longer mentioned. Further on, we can read between lines that there is an interest in ‘the interaction between lambdas’. They want to study those strange matter particles in the future. which if put together, as they have each 2 strange quarks, could create enough strange matter to start the chain reaction. This is not so far fetched, as we see it happen all the time when deuterium (2-atomic hydrogens) becomes tritium (ternary particles) and then helium. It is called an H-fusion bomb, only of a power far bigger than the H-bombs we know.
The problem is the kind of society we are living in, based in Public Relations and statements always crafted to deny all responsibilities. So what was in the Assessment a theoretical risk of extinction has now become the ‘very important discipline of strange physics’. Now the question is: why do we have to learn strange physics? What are the benefits for mankind obtained from the study of particles we cannot see, cost a fortune to make, can destroy the planet, mean nothing for the understanding of the Universe and have no relationship whatsoever with the human kind?
To put what CERN is doing in perspective it is like selling humanity the ‘enormous interest’ of learning it all about the Ebola virus and the Bird’s flew by spreading the planet with those 2 contagious diseases, a mild equivalent to spreading strange matter and black holes all over the Earth. But at least those viruses are made with DNA and so even if they kill us, there would be survivors or evolution might start again. But strange matter is so strange to this planet that the only ‘benefit’ we can obtain is to wipe out from existence all forms of life.
There is something very ‘strange’, I would rather say sinister and scary in this ‘matter’… a sort of fascination with death indeed. Physicists involved in those projects sound truly like Oppenheimer and Teller talking about Kali, the destructor of worlds. It reminds me of the sort of overstatements handled by the military to the soldiers when they send them to a war=death field, paradoxically without mentioning death, only talking about the importance of honor, the equivalent of truth for physicists who also make extreme statements about the importance of what they are doing… I recently mentioned this story to a friend, who immediately quoted me Kurt Vonnegut, author of a master work, ‘The cat and the cradle’, in which a friendly scientist produces a new type of water, ice-9, that has, like the strangelet particles that kill matter, the property of freezing upon contact all other forms of ‘living, dynamic water’ into inert ice. The wonderful new material is protected inside a crystal tube out of any risk, according to his author, till an ‘accident’ drops ice-9 into the ocean, part of an interconnected, organic planet. So it soon freezes the rivers, sewers, springs, and finally the water inside the cells of mankind, a carbon-life species as fragile today as he has always been.
5. Chinese scientists find at MIT that strangelets will be more stable that iron.
If all this was not problematic enough to frighten anyone interested in the long term survival of the human species, latter on the year, in December 2005, a startling article, which triggered my decision to write this book, appeared in the Physics archive, the professional internet outlet in which in the electronic age, physicists publish their discoveries. Since the article proved mathematically that strangelets were far easier to make and far more stable than previous theory predicted. Thus the article should have definitely stopped farther experiments in strange matter and definitely stopped the LHC machine.
This was not impossible to achieve. At least 2 important scientific programs had been stopped previously but always on economical considerations: in the 70s the Americans killed the moon program because it was very costly. And in the 90s Clinton killed a super-collider, half way on the making, for the same reasons. Indeed, in 1993 Congress cancelled the 8 billion $ superconducting supercollider project, a mega-machine of 88 kms. , to save money. (CERN’s LHC has ‘only’ 27 kms. And it collides protons at 7 trillion volts). Thanks to the excessive ambition of American Physicists, this time they couldn’t make it, as costs would keep increasing, given the routinely underbudget process that Physicists apply to those kind of megaprojects.
But it seems that in the world we live safety is not that important. Only money matters. So now that most of the CERN’s budget has been spent, to stop the LHC for economical causes, doesn’t make sense… even if the chances of creating strange matter after the Chinese article, warning on the existence of stable, negatively charged strangelets, has become so high that we could compare it to a game of ‘Russian roulette’ with mankind.
The mentioned article was the result of the collaboration of 3 Chinese scientists from the most respected institutions in America and China, the Massachussets Institute of Technology and the Chinese Center for High energy Physics. This is the head of the article, explained latter in layman terms:
New solutions for the color-flavor locked strangelets

After the acceptance of quantum chromodynamics as the fundamental theory of strong interactions, it became extremely significant whether a deconfined phase of matter consisting merely of quarks would be possible. Theoretical investigations show that strange quark matter (SQM), which is composed of u, d, and s quarks, might be absolutely stable [1, 2, 3]. Because small lumps of SQM, the so called strangelets, could be produced in modern relativistic heavy-ion collision experiments, their charge property has attracted a lot of interest [4].
Originally, SQMis believed to show up with some small positive charge [2]. In June 1997, however, Schaffner-Bielich et al. demonstrated that strangelets are most likely heavily negatively charged [5]. In June 1999, it was shown that negative charge can lower the critical density of SQM [6]. In July 1999, Wilczek mentioned an “ice-9”-type transition [7], which was picked up by a British newspaper. Not long ago, in response to public concern, an expert committee published a report [8], which got positive comments [9], as well as criticisms [10,11].
Much progress has been achieved recently by the introduction of color superconductivity [12, 13]. It has been shown that bulk SQM with color-flavor locking is electrically neutral [14]. Immediately, Madsen found a solution to the corresponding system equations of strangelets, where color-flavor locked strangelets are positively charged [15], and they might be a candidate for cosmic rays beyond the GZK cutoff [16].’
In the previous paragraph, the Chinese team resumed the stage at which Physics was, regarding our understanding of strange matter, when the CERN published its report. From the 3 options available theoretically about strangelets, the CERN decided that the only valid one was the harmless option. So Mr. Madsen, who believed that all the strangelets would be positive and innocuous, became the author of the CERN’s safety report. And even if Schaffner and Bielich disagreed; and Wilczek mentioned a run away ice-9 transition of strangelets, converting matter into a dense ball of strangelets that would engulf the entire Earth, the CERN ignored them. Then the Chinese team… ‘found that there are three solutions for each given baryon number A. The strangelet corresponding to the first solution is positively charged. The strangelet corresponding to the second solution is negatively charged and the third solution is nearly neutral. For convenience, these three solutions are marked, respectively, with CFL slet-1, 2 and 3. The ordinary strangelets without color-flavor locking have also been plotted in the same figure for comparison purpose:

In the graph, A is the key measure. Since it is the number of nucleons you need to make the 3 new type of strangelets, which is far inferior to the number it was needed previously to make an ordinary set (figure d, where the convergence of the 3 types of quarks is far remote). In other words, if previously to the Chinese article, you needed tens of thousands of quarks packed to make a strangelet stable, diminishing enormously the risk, what the Chinese showed is that with a mere 500 quarks it is possible to make a stable strangelet 2, which is the negative charged one, with 1000 is possible to make a neutral one and with 20 thousand a positive one. So it is obvious that again physicists got it all wrong: The easiest strangelets to manufacture are negatively charged strangelets, precisely the ones that are more dangerous and can provoke, by attracting positive charged protons and nuclei, the runaway reaction… Then the Chinese team ads: the comparative stability of the three kinds of CFL strangelets needs to be further studied in the future. CFL strangelets which are more stable than 56Fe may have far-reaching consequencies. The slet-1 can provide an alternative explanation for cosmic rays beyond the GZK cutoff [16]. The slet-3 is nearly neutral, and so might be a candidate for the miracle dark matter in our universe. The slet-2 and 3 are more stable than the normal unpaired strangelets, and so may have chances to be produced in the modern heavy ion collision experiments.’
And though the Chinese team declares that they will stop growing before swallowing the Earth, becoming positively charged, this is by no means certain, because once and again scientists have found that their abstract, static particles, constantly mutate between positive and negative, quark and antiquark states in a dynamic, organic way. For example, the neutron and proton were first considered different particles and now we know they mutate their up and down quarks changing charge. So today the neutron and proton are considered the 2 sides of the same particle, the nucleon that dynamically changes its state. Precisely that simple mutation, which happens constantly in normal matter between up and down quarks is all what it is needed to change a uds strangelet into a dds negative one. And if that happens with strangelets, they will accrete the Earth, changing between positive and negative charge as they feed indistinctly in positive and negatively charged atoms. The same process of dynamical understanding of matter, has happened in our analysis of neutrinos, which seemed first to be 3 different fixed particles and now we know mutate into each other at will, when traveling from the Sun to the Earth. So it happened with the 3 families of matter, which were supposed to be different and now we know can mutate into each other, especially strangelets that can convert ordinary matter into strange matter, feeding on it at exponential rate. Even in astronomy, what was considered first 2 types of galaxies, the spiral galaxy and the barred one, are now considered two phases of a 10 billion years length cycle of feeding in interstellar gas in which the central black hole mutates from a bar to a spiral shape. The Universe seems to be dynamic and organic, not static and abstract. So science starts explaining a new particle or cosmological form with an abstract model and it ends up, after detailed analysis, showing a dynamic, organic world of particles constantly mutating and feeding into each other.
More over the Chinese found that those 3 subtypes of strangelets were more stable than iron, the most stable particle of the Universe, one negative, one positive and a 3rd neutral. This is what could be expected within the frame of an organic theory of the Universe, which always divides the one in 3, as you live one life and have 3 ages, changing from one into another dynamically in time. The atom nucleon is one but it has 3 quarks; your body is one but it has 3 main networks: the energy network or blood, the information network or nervous system and the endocrine reproductive network. So as in the case of neutrinos that come in 3 types, which mutate into each other, it turns out that strangelets come in 3 flavors that will probably mutate into each other, from negative to neutral to positive mass and in the process attract more matter. But what is truly worrisome of those findings is that strangelets will be so much stable than any form of matter of our Universe that the entire Earth could be easily transformed into them. To understand that process, we have to think how neutron stars transform simple matter into more complex forms: first they use hydrogen to create helium, which is more stable. Then helium becomes carbon and carbon fusions into iron. But iron cannot fusion into heavier atoms because it is the most stable matter of the Universe. So when a star has an iron core, it evolves into a neutron star made of strange matter. Now, thanks to the Chinese team, we know this is possible since strange matter is more stable than iron and so it can convert easily all the matter of the star or the planet into a strangelet lump. Further on, the Chinese team found out that those strangelets need far less u-d-s quarks to become a stable ball of strange matter. If before in the first abstract approximations to strange matter we expected that tens of thousands of quarks were required, now it turns out that strange matter is stable with a few hundreds of particles, far less than those that will be assemblied in CERN. So the probability that strange matter appears on the LHC has become now far bigger than anything we could calculate before.
In fact, according to the Chinese Article, we can assure that with the energies of CERN, strange matter will appear with a 100% of probabilities. Then if it accretes, changing sign like neutrinos and quarks do, it will swallow the Earth very fast. So the chances that the CERN creates strange matter and destroys the Earth can be as high as tossing a coin into the air, 50/50.
And yet the CERN has not revised his risk assessment still at 1 in 6 millions, and the Chinese article has been ignored by Physicists fearful of loosing his prestige among colleagues. His authors are now in China, isolated from CERN and their pleads urging a deep study of the subject has been falling on deaf ears ().
The smoking gun, assessment of risks ‘a la carte’.
The experiments at RHIC worried a few scientists, which have denounced it; but most physicists, stubborn as they are and accustomed to live on the edge as the makers of weapons of mass destruction, have found the risks involved worth taking, in his quest for the Saint Grial of big-bang energies… So instead of closing the facility since each new experiment implies a new risk to mankind…physicists at the RHIC collider have emotionally blinded themselves against all evidence, as any religious believer does everyday against the evidence of human death and the lack of any prove of the existence of a caring God that will resurrect us.
Sheldon shows the general, don’t worry be happy, irresponsible attitude of physicists, regarding the risks of his profession. So, RHIC on the view of the worries of many scientists tried to prove that the creation of strangelets was very unlikely to happen in their reactor. Soon they came up with a probability, tailored to cause no fear, of 1 out of a million chances to create strangelets that would kill the Earth’s matter. But that kind of risk still implied 6 billion/1 million=6 thousand dead corpses in insurance, legal terms… So people complained about it. And the RHIC was sued for accepting those risks. The judge though failed in favor of the so-called experts, when history of science has proved once and again that an individual with new, more reasonable statements is always right in front of a mass of scholars that merely learn the routines of outdated, previous scholars. In science, authority is not based in position or prestige but reason. Authority is always appealed to when reason doesn’t exist. Wegener was ignored not on reason but on his lack of authority as a Geologist and he was right. Copernicus was dismissed on the basis that he was not an astronomer and had not authority and he was right. Hofmeister, the father of botanics, suffer as an amateur the same despise, and he was right. Mendel, the father of genetics, was dismissed an amateur and he was right. Darwin, an amateur biologist, discovered evolution and took 20 years to publish, concerned with his lack of scholar credentials and he was right. Leonardo never published because his Latin was bad and the scholars of the day didn’t admit discourses in Italian and he was right. In the modern age, radio astronomy was founded by Grote Reber, a radio engineer who single-handedly built a radio telescope in his Illinois back yard in 1937 and did the first systematic survey of astronomical radio waves. He was laughed at till professionals copied his work, because he was once again right. But the fact remains that ‘professionals’ stuck on false assumptions and mediocre theories will always defend their turf with no reasons at all on authority and will be heard by the common people who still knows less on the subject. And that is the present procedure on CERN’s experiments. The ‘common sense’ procedure consists on denying risks so we are all happy because after all we have to respect authority. The people sent to the concentration camps in trains could not believe something so horrendous. They were convinced nothing would happen to them. It is an incredible fact of history that the most horrendous crimes happen because people cannot believe they are possible, while misdemeanours are forgotten because they seem far more real. And indeed, we will see that the quest of robotics for the ultimate self-reproductive machine carried about by people like Marvin Minsky or Moravec who affirmed their robots will extinguish mankind are accepted because they must be ‘just nuts’ with no power to do so. As it is too extreme and insulting to the human self-confessed position as center of the Universe. And certainly few people are more self-conscious of authority than are judges are in America.
So the issue was filed, the boss of the RHIC, now scientific advisor to Mr. Bush, gave the OK and experiments, too outrageous to believe, proceeded. The harder they fall.
Those experts in the Brookhaven report conclude also that with their energetic power, roughly ten times smaller that the power of the CERN super-collider, would not produce stable black holes. To put those facts in perspective, after a Morrocan terrorist group blew up 2 trains of innocent people in Madrid, on 11 March, morrocans were polled and overwhelmingly affirmed Mr. Osama to be a hero. They are believers. So are those physicists who affirm the CERN will find ‘God’s particle’. Probably Mr. Osama Bin Laden also sees his job as a systematic way of knowledge that brings him closer to God. And all those who oppose to his ideals are people filled with suspicion and prejudice. Mr. Marburger, who authorized the RHIC experiments affirmed that their work is looked with ‘suspicion and prejudice’. We have indeed a problem similar to that of fundamentalist Islam: our unlimited cult to technological science, which we believe to be, as Muslims do with the Koran, the key to understand the ultimate truths of the Universe, makes us to find common sense to create the most lethal species in the Universe to study the big-bang, probably the death of a super-massive black hole. Death is a magnet for all kind of fundamentalists without balance. But it is my opinion and that of many other philosophers of science and religion, the goals of both disciplines might be positive to man only when they are kept within the reasonable limits of what we truly know about God and the Universe, and applied to the betterment of the ethic and practical life of man. Yet both science and religion cross the line and become harmful to humanity, when they go well beyond what they can know and become dogmatic, arrogant and pathological, killing people in their pretension to reach absolute knowledge. Then we talk of fundamentalist religion and pathological physics, which have to be eradicated from the present world if the world wishes to exist without unneeded Armaggedons.
Let us then prove what it should be obvious but it is not to most ‘western believers in science’. That Nuclear physics and black hole theory wont ever find out the true nature of the Universe, neither there are any empirical prove that their run-away hyper ambitious theories about the origin of it all, are truth. On the contrary, their theories are mystified with religious, anthropomorphic ideals and false assumptions that convert most of the present cosmological theories that go beyond the limits of reason, including the big-bang, speculations.
4. A proto black hole appears at CERN.
If the news about strange matter and the ‘business as usual’ approach to the phenomena shown by the responsibles at RHIC, more concerned with the public relations issue than the dangers of human life, are worrisome, latter in the year another experiment proved the enormous danger of playing to be God, trying to repeat a mini-big bang on Earth… Since again, what Physicists found and what physicists said it would happen was totally different, and the worse possible scenario appeared: the ‘black hole Rex’ showed its teeth… (see illustration at the beginning of this chapter). This was what Physical Review was saying about the experiment:
A Quark universe.
Individual quarks and antiquarks have never been observed in experiments. Quarks and antiquarks are always bound in groups of three in baryons (e.g. protons and neutrons) or antibaryons (e.g. antiprotons and antineutrons), or in bound quark-antiquark pairs known as mesons. However, "free" quarks must have existed in the extreme conditions of the very early universe. Until about 40 microseconds after the big bang, according to theory, the universe consisted of a very hot gas of free quarks, antiquarks and gluons: this gas is called a "quark-gluon plasma".
The temperatures in this plasma exceeded 2.5 x 1012 Kelvin - about 150 000 times hotter than the core of the Sun. We do not know if quarks are truly elementary, but if they are, the quark-gluon plasma in the early universe would have been formed directly in the big bang. As the universe cooled, the quarks and antiquarks "froze" into hadrons. To understand how quarks became confined within protons and neutrons - which are essential if we hope to understand how the universe we live in came to be the way it is - we need to be able to recreate and study the quark-gluon plasma in the laboratory. We need to create a "micro bang".
The God’s complex appears here in italics: they want to create a micro-bang; that is, a global bomb event because it is essential to understand the Universe (from the single-handed, plainly wrong perspective of Energy Physics). So Physicists went on creating a micro-big bang, expecting a gas dissolved in seconds. And this is what really happened on the RHI, as the news was delivered in the Internet:
Lab fireball 'may be black hole': A fireball created in a US particle accelerator has the characteristics of a black hole, physicist said.
It was generated at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) in New York, US, which smashes beams of gold nuclei together at near light speeds. Horatiu Nastase says his calculations show that the core of the fireball has a striking similarity to a black hole. His work has been published on the pre-print website arxiv.org and is reported in New Scientist magazine:
‘When the gold nuclei smash into each other they are broken down into particles called quarks and gluons. These form a ball of plasma about 300 times hotter than the surface of the Sun. This fireball, which lasts just 10 million, billion, billionths of a second, can be detected because it absorbs jets of particles produced by the beam collisions.
But Nastase, of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, says there is something unusual about it. Ten times as many jets were being absorbed by the fireball as were predicted by calculations.’ Let's look at what happened. In the RHIC accelerator itself two beams of gold ions, atoms stripped of all their electrons, are clashed at several interaction zones around the ring-shaped facility. Every nucleus is a bundle of 197 protons and neutrons, each of which shoots along with an energy of up to 100 GeV. Therefore, when the two gold projectiles meet in a head-on "central collision" event, the total collision energy is 40 TeV (40 trillion electron volts). Of this, typically 25 TeV serves as a stock of surplus energy---call it a fireball---out of which new particles can be created. Indeed in many gold-gold smashups as many as 10,000 new particles are born of that fireball. Hubble-quality pictures of this blast of particles The outward streaming particles provide all the forensic evidence for determining the properties of the fireball. To harvest this debris, the RHIC detectors must be agile and very fast. The recreation of the frenzied quark era is ephemeral, lasting only a few times 10-24 seconds. The size of the fireball is about 5 femtometers, its density about 100 times that of an ordinary nucleus, and its temperature about 2 trillion degrees Kelvin or (in energy units) 175 MeV. RHIC was built to create that fireball. But was it the much-anticipated quark-gluon plasma? The data unexpectedly showed that the fireball looked nothing like a gas. For one thing, potent jets of mesons and protons expected to be squirting out of the fireball, were being suppressed. Now, for the first time since starting nuclear collisions at RHIC in the year 2000 and with plenty of data in hand, all four detector groups operating at the lab have converged on a consensus opinion. They believe that the fireball is a liquid of strongly interacting quarks and gluons rather than a gas of weakly interacting quarks and gluons. The RHIC findings were reported at this week's April meeting of the American Physical Society (APS) in Tampa, Florida in a talk delivered by Gary Westfall (Michigan State) and at a press conference attended by several RHIC scientists. Brookhaven physicist Samuel Aronson said that having established the quark-gluon-liquid nature of the pre-protonic universe, RHIC expected to plumb the liquid's properties, such as its heat capacity and its reaction to shock waves. The liquid is dense but seems to flow with very little viscosity. It flows so freely that it approximates an ideal, or perfect, fluid, the kind governed by the standard laws of hydrodynamics. At least in its flow properties the quark liquid is therefore a classical liquid and should not be confused with a super fluid, whose flow properties (including zero viscosity) are dictated by quantum mechanics.’
Indeed, that is the core of the matter: an unstable black hole, far below the threshold of energy creation expected for a mature specimen as those who will pop up at CERN, has contradicted all simplistic equations invented by scientists, showing the typical ‘organic’ resilience of the Universe: it has become a liquid instead of a gas, feeding ten times faster in matter than expected. In the case of the Brookhaven experiment, the denial by dogmatic physicists that black holes created in Colliders will be a stable super fluid quark liquid, contradicting the idealized equations that portrayed them as explosive big-bang gases, has gone so far that sic am described the reaction of the physicists after seeing the results of the experiment in these terms: ‘A perfect surprise: The physical picture emerging from the four experiments is consistent and surprising. The quarks and gluons… behave collectively…This hot mélange acts like a liquid, not the ideal gas theorists had anticipated. Evidence for the rapid formation of such a hot, dense medium comes from a phenomenon called jet quenching. When 2 protons collide at higher energy spray of hadrons called jets blast out in opposite directions. But the PHENIX and STAR detectors witness only one half of such a pair. Where is the other jet? This situation conflicts with the naïve theoretical picture originally painted of this medium as an almost ideal, weakly interacting gas. This surprising liquid flows with almost no viscosity. It is probably the most perfect liquid ever observed. Astonishing, far exceeds all other known fluids in its approach to perfection. How and why this happens is the great experimental challenge now facing physicists. The overriding question is whether the liquid like behavior witnessed at RHIC will persist at the higher temperatures and densities encountered at the LHC. Some theorists project that the force between quarks will become weak once their average energy exceeds 1 GEV, which will occur at the LHC, and that the quark –gluon plasma will finally start behaving properly – like a gas, as originally expected. Others are less sanguine. They maintain the quarks and gluons should remain tightly coupled in their liquid embrace. On this issue, we must await the verdict of experiment, which may well bring other surprises.’ (Sci Am, May 2006)
Again, 2 scary facts: physicists were sanguine about it. That is, the so-called by psychologists, ’emotional block of critical thinking’ is at work here once more. A dogma was denied by Nature, but the people who think of themselves the most intelligent people on Earth, won’t accept the dictum of nature. It reminds me the expression of Einstein, when he was asked if his Relativity Theory was wrong: ‘God should change then the Universe, so beautiful is’. This doesn’t happen in other sciences that do not pretend to be the priesthood of God. It is the very sign though of Pathological Physics… But as Einstein said also, in a humble moment: ‘those who try to impose truth with the tools of power, will be the laugh of the Gods’.
3. A ‘perfect surprise’: a proto black hole shows his teeth at RHIC.
The liquid quark fluid surprised all the researchers involved, who expected an ultra hot unstable gas instead. It also tumbled down all their previous calculations. Not a good sign indeed. Scientists at RHIC are still debating why quark herds are far more stable and live much longer than their abstract equations show, as scientist in Jurassic Park wondered why those Tyrannosaurs could mate and lived on herds. What was holding together those quarks in a state of super-conductivity and super-fluidity, creating the most perfect liquid ever observed in the Universe? We will return to that subject latter, as we explain in simple terms the nature of black holes, not according to Mr. Hawking but to Mr. Einstein, since all serious work about black holes theoretically demonstrated and empirically proved, has used the equations of Mr. Einstein... Enough to say now that as in the Jurassic Park experiment, once more Nature surprised us being far more stable and efficient than arrogant scientists had ever believed. And so it is natural to think that if the quark-gluon soup was a stable liquid not an explosive gas, the next stage in the ladder of cosmic perfection, the black hole, will be a stable quark-gluon hyper fluid solid state with awesome properties as those shown by a recently discovered similar super fluid solid made of ultra cold helium-4 ().
The fact is that the behavior of a gas is far easier to calculate than a liquid submitted to non-lineal equations like those of the black hole; so Brookhaven physicists as Hawking did in his theory of black holes, used mainly lineal equations and got a gas and an explosion. While Nature constructs the Universe mainly with cyclical, organic equations and got a liquid and I suspect it will get a stable black hole, not an evaporating one at CERN…
Indeed, the LHC will have a new surprise very likely. It will create a lump of quarks by most estimates, around 100 times bigger, that might reach enough stability to become either a strangelet or a black hole. But God has been nice to humans, if you want to use the mystique babbling of physicists, since it has warned us on time, showing the teeth of the black hole rex… Now, we know, after the experiment at RHIC, that black holes are not abstract entities but real organic balls: a mass of quarks in bosonic state, the most perfect, superconductive state of the Universe. In huge numbers, as the recent experiments in Brookhaven have proved, those quarks smash together packed into a height dimension, as bosons do, proving once more the laws of Relativity. Since it was Einstein who described with an Indian physicist, Bose, in the so-called Einstein-Bose equations, the perfectly ordered Boson state of matter and the theory behind black hole formation. Imagine then, in those terms, a black hole as an accelerated vortex of energy and mass, turning at the speed of light, peeling off like a mechanical saw, protons and atoms, and swallowing the inner smaller quarks, creating a growing bosonic mass of perfect order… moving at the speed of light without friction… swallowing tens of thousands of particles each second… with the amazing hunger of all new-borns that feed, grow and consume energy much faster than mature people… It is the exact behavior of black holes all over the Universe, observed by cosmology and now observed in the Earth, courtesy of RHIC. As in the famous film, ‘The seventh seal’ by Bergman, death has been grateful to us, giving a reprise, a second chance, a chess match, before going into the Russian Roulette game… but the cocky crusader of the film is too sure of himself. He thinks he can outdo death, represented by the black dressed death and he carelessly moves his pawns, betrays his intentions, reveals his position to the death playing appropriately with black pieces. As we men, are revealing the position of the Earth to the black death of the Universe… graciously opening the door to the neverland… Myths are powerful parables on the nature of reality that should be listened too as they reveal often more about life and death than the abstract equations at CERN. Death indeed always dresses black, from the black pest to the cemetery, from the code dress of the widows, to the black widows, the murderous spiders, from the vampire dress to the black hole we are about to create.
5. Baby Holes.
What we saw in RHIC should have opened all the alarm bells of the scientific world because it was indeed not only surprising but very dangerous. The object at RHIC seems to be a proto black hole or a proto strangelet, the 2 types of matter that have the property of eating up and transforming our matter into heavier forms of mass… The RHIC particles were not stable because the energy to give them birth was below 1 Tev and not theoretical model predicts a stable birth of a black hole or a super fluid quark state under that energy. But we saw a hint of what kind of organic matter we can find in black holes. And for the first time we have enough empirical experimental evidence on the inside nature of those black holes to accompany Einstein’s Theory. Thus the first and obvious truth we have to reject on that evidence is the excessive abstract, lineal approach to black hole theory of Hawking, who considers that black holes do not have information inside because they are abstract holes to another Universe. Nonsense. They are real, organic beings who do have a lot of quark information inside. The liquid, fractal network of quarks that was created at RHIC was closer to what system scientists call in my specialty a system far from equilibrium; that is, an organic, liquid system… It was not made of abstract equations but it looked like a fractal, chaotic system with high temperature. And it remained highly ordered because what we call in system sciences, ‘an attractor’, a dense, in-formed nuclei, acted attracting particles towards its center. And that inner nuclei of the ball of fire, according to Nastase could have been the aborted fetus of a baby black hole…
If one of those baby black holes is born at CERN it will be up to 100 times more massive, and stable. It will pack around 10.000 quarks in a single point of space: a mammoth ball of mass of enormous power. According to my theoretical calculations a black hole will be stable and with a mighty gravitational field, that will suck all air around the Earth in ‘no time’ with a million quarks. But those calculi are very difficult and I am not certain about them. So again, instead of filling here pages with 10-dimensional Relativity equations I will try to explain visually what might happen on doomsday day…
6. The vortex fluid. How a vortex of mass absorbs the Universe.
What looks certain beyond routine denial, after the RHIC experiment is that the mystery of what is within the black hole seems resolved: a fluid that moves at the speed of light, made of tiny quarks, gluons and perhaps the final, quantic components of the space-time fluid…
In that sense, all black holes rotate at light speeds, in its central, cyclical singularity, communicating that rotation to the space that surrounds them. So if a black hole appears on CERN, according to Einstein’s theory, it will absorb the ‘river of space-time’ and the matter that flows through it in a vortex that reaches light speed at the mouth of the black hole sink. It doesn’t matter the size of the black hole because the river of quantic space-time according to the most recent models of quantum gravity that use the strict equations of Einstein (in its simplified Asthekar version), is as small as 10-35 m. So a micro black hole will behave as the 2 other black holes we have observed in the bigger scales of matter, stellar black holes and galactic black holes, rotating at near light speeds like a vortex of mass, sucking the electromagnetic space-tie around it. It is the accretion process of classic black hole theory, the key to fully understand what really a black hole is sucking in: the space-time vacuum, the electromagnetic space-time of our world, which is a field of electromagnetism, a field of light.
In other words, the black hole feeds on the light-space or final energy substrata of the Universe. It absorbs and evaporates the vacuum energy that moves at light speed, the world we see around us, curved by its gravitational force as it enters the so-called event horizon, a border beyond which nothing can be perceived. That electromagnetic world might have again as all in the Universe 2 forms, the electromagnetic, spatial, extended lineal field of light, and the imploding particles or charges (electrons and quarks). They are the equivalent to the smaller water molecules of a river and the fishes that live in it. Both however feed the black hole vortex who bends and absorbs the electromagnetic membrane, the sheet of space-time in which we exist and the particles and charges that float in it.
So the black hole either will fall to the center of the Earth and eat the Earth up or most likely, as the densest gravitational point of the planet it will create a second gravitational center, the eye of a light-speed hurricane suspended in its relative place of birth attracting the space-time and surrounding matter. In that case the gaseous atmosphere around the black hole will start to fall into a vortex that will end up swallowing all the Earth’s oxygen and then its matter. But we will be dead by then. And of this behavior there is indeed evidence all over the Universe.
But why a form so small as a black hole can destroy an entire planet?
Because the speed at which black holes feed is enormous. The most common black holes are ‘Kerr black holes’ that rotate around a central singularity, short of the tub hole, creating a vortex, short of a tub drain flow that ‘swallows in’ space at the speed of light ‘c=300.000 km/s’. This awesome speed of rotation is necessary because black holes trap, bend and swallow all universal forms of matter and energy, including light. So by rotating at ‘c speed’ not even light can’t avoid the cyclical vortex of gravitation that sucks all matter inwards… During that process matter and light explode, splitting in photons, particles and anti particles that either feed further the black hole or collide with other particles and annihilate again with awesome explosive energy.
Those are the processes we observe in the Universe. So black holes tend to be accompanied by the collapse of matter and the release of energies never witnessed in this planet, to the point that most cosmologists believe today that both, the initial big bang of the Universe and the big-bang that gives birth to young galaxies called quasars is provoked by the explosion of a black hole. And those explosions are in fact, independent of the black hole size. Since the trendiest hypothesis about the birth of the Universe today, the so-called hyperinflationary Universe, departs from a ‘singularity’ of enormous density and the size of a tiny black hole, the smallest possible black hole which measures only 10-35 m…
Since a black hole is not a quantum, electromagnetic object like an electron, which turns around 30.000 km. per second, but a gravitational species, far more powerful, moving at 300.000 km. per second, the speed of light, sucking in space-time and dragging those particles inside…
As the equations of Einstein had predicted. Let us then consider what General Relativity has to said about black holes and how easy is to introduce the discoveries at RHIC within that theoretical frame to explain the true nature of the top predator being of the Universe.
7. Einstein’s Relativity explains perfectly what it is a black hole…
What is then a black hole? Certainly not the simple object described by Wheeler as having no hair and by Hawking, with a single, lineal equation. Single lineal equations in physics only explain the simplest objects, like those springs deformed linearly in high school maths. But as a Nobel prize put it: ‘lineal equations in physics are like needles on a straw field, almost impossible to find’. Specially when we describe what seems now the most complex object of the Universe, perfectly disguised to prey on all forms of matter. It is the sheer arrogance of theoretical physicists that consider what they don’t see as non-existent, what made Wheeler affirm that black holes have no hair because we cannot see them. They do have hair, but they are so complex, than they hide themselves as death does in the myth, under their black robe.
In that sense, for a proper understanding of black holes, we have to study them at least from 3 perspectives to fully grasp its nature:
- From the perspective of a space-time vortex, as explained by Einstein’s Relativity ().
- As a material entity made of super fluid quarks, packed in an extreme dense environment that has lost the electromagnetic covers of which we human beings are made ().
- And finally, under the organic laws of evolution, as an entity that follows the mathematical laws of ‘far from equilibrium’, complex systems, which is the perspective cosmology have recently started to use in his study of the Universe, on which I am a pioneer. In that regard, I strongly believe the Galaxy can be described as a dual network of energy (the electromagnetic world) and gravitational information (the black hole world), solving all the mysteries of pathological, abstract physics, in the way all other systems of the Universe, from cells with DNA-information and mitochondrial cells, to cultures with economic energy and cultural information can be described. It seems to be a feature of a dual Universe, based in networks of energy and information that I have explored in depth (you might check if interested my web on system sciences, www.unificationtheory.com). But I will not impose that thesis, as it is still not mainstream physics, but rather explain it in the final chapter of this I part of the boo on black holes. It wont be needed. What relativity and the RHIC experiment shows is more than enough to tumble CERN ‘don’t worry be happy assumptions’.
In that regard, said that there are 3 theories about black holes, which hold different opinions about them. However this is an inaccurate way to describe the facts. In a more rigorous analysis we could safely state that there is only one theory about black holes, which isEinstein’s General Theory of Relativity, latter expanded into the cosmological Theory of the big-bang. And both affirm that a black hole is a vortex of space-time that curves, swallows and explodes all forms of electromagnetic matter around it, like a river fall or a water drain does with the objects dragged by the stream. Confronting those very solid theories on how a black hole or a mass affects the electromagnetic space-time that surrounds it, which are considered the Standard Model of Cosmology, it stands alone, in the defense of a supposed black hole’s harmless evaporation, an article published by Hawking in 1977 in which it speculated with the possibility that black holes would evaporate instead of feeding on space-time flows and the matter they drag within… However, unlike the solid big-bang and Relativity theories, whose possible errors latter discussed in detail do not affect their description of black holes, and have been solidly established by experimental data, Mr. Hawking’s theory is full of logic flaws and has never been proved (). For 30 years telescopes all over the world have tried to find a single black hole exploding as Hawking said and they have only found hundreds of them eating entire galaxies, stars and planets as Einstein said. So the matter is very simple: do you believe Einstein to be right or Hawking’s; you believe experimental facts or bizarre theories without proves? We will try to be serious in a matter of that importance. So we will stick for most of this text to the well-proved theories of Einstein that predicted the existence of black holes and the big-bang 40 years before they were discovered… And latter study in detail that article on which it seems the futureof mankind stands still.
8. What is a mass. The Equivalence Principle and the accelerated, mass vortex.
The first approach is the Einsteinian approach which describes them as it does with the Universe as a whole, on broad strokes. The second approach is the experimental modern approach that uses the discoveries of quantum theory to enter into a fine detail about the structure of the black hole. In that sense a black hole is the densest concentration of the densest matter of the Universe, the ultimate gravitational Russian doll of reality. Since quarks represent on average more than 99.9% of the matter of our bodies… When we combine them both together with the proper rigor, we obtain a clear picture of the nature and actions involved in the life of a black hole and can understand thanks to them much better the structure and nature of the Universe. All this which is an amazing feat, doesn’t require at all Mr. Hawking’s evaporating black holes, so we will study Mr. Hawking’s theory at the end of this chapter, in a paragraph dedicated to pathological physics, perfectly described by the same Einstein the quote that initiates this book:
‘’Every theory is speculative. If however a theory is such as to require the application of complicated logical processes in order to reach conclusions from the premises that can’t be confronted with observation, everybody becomes conscious of the speculative nature of the theory. In such case an almost irresistible feeling of aversion arises…’
Let us then start by non-pathological physics, which are physics based in simple logic assumptions and proved latter by the experimental facts, like Einstein’s Relativity has been.
The Principle of Equivalence is the fundamental principle in which General Relativity is based. It states merely that mass and acceleration are the same. Which means in layman terms that a mass is not a material form but a 'resistance' to move. A mass is an inertial force that we experience when we are pushed away, accelerated, displaced from our point of view. Things like to remain in a certain place and when we try to move them, they show an inertial mass. For example, when you accelerate in a rocket you fill pulled backwards, with more mass, trying to remain where you were before, moving at constant speed. Now, since the Universe ultimate vacuum field is an energy in perpetual movement, constant speed is ok. It is not real movement but just going with the flow. For example, the Earth moves at constant speed and we do not feel any change of position. But acceleration can always be measured against a background with a constant speed. It is a change that we feel and resist. When Einstein noticed those facts, Relativity Theory was born.
However the example of a rocket moving in a line is not good to describe masses, because most masses are not like rockets, accelerating lineally, but rather vortex-like spirals accelerating in a curved path, inwards, like the pictures we observe in accelerators. It is thus evident that as we accelerate a particle in a curved path, the particle acquires more mass, till a point in which physicists expect to create a super-massive, accelerating black hole. Since according to the Principle of Equivalence the particle that accelerates faster in an inward vortex has more mass. And that particle is the black hole, which in Einstein's words, curves the energy of the space-time continuum like a sink in a tub curves and drags inwards the water at accelerated path, taking with it whatever floats in that water... So we can explain very easily in an intuitive manner, thanks to the Principle of Equivalence, a mass like the black hole in a simple equation of 2 terms:
Equivalence Principle: mass = curved acceleration= Cyclical Vortex that resists displacement
Thus, the best analogy to understand the Einstein’s concept of a mass is that of a vortex of water ruled by the simple, fascinating equation of all vortices:
Vortex Speed x Radius-size of vortex = Vo x Ro = Constant Value
What this means is that any vortex paradoxically accelerates faster when it is smaller. So the product of its growing speed and diminishing radius is constant. And hence we find that smaller particles that rotate faster have more mass. So the electron which is bigger and rotates slower than the nucleon has less mass. In fact, the electron mass is 0.1% of the mass of an atom which is all stored in the inner quarks. While the black hole which rotates at light speed and occupies the minimal space, is the most massive form of the Universe. So dark matter very likely made of black holes represents 75% of the universe's mass:
Max. Speed x Min. Radius= Black Hole huge mass (the most powerful mass on the Universe) Med. Speed x Med. Radius = Quark mass (the inner world of atoms).
Minimal Speed x Max. Surface = Electron tiny mass (our world)
Again this is intuitive. If you are a very small being turning at full speed it will be very difficult to push you away. When you see a skater in a ring, he speeds up and closes his arms, to move faster and become more stable in his position. Thus the homology between acceleration and mass defines for a curved space the meaning of a mass and the paradoxical fact that the smaller the vortex is the faster it turns, and the bigger the mass is. It is the same that happens in any stream dragged by a vortex like a hurricane. In that sense what you experience as weight is the inertial resistance of a vortex anchored in a point of space-time to any displacement. The same happens in our macro-Universe when a skater turns around and bends his arms to spin faster. If he opens his arms spreading his vortex it decelerates and becomes easier to move in a lineal direction… It is in those terms how it becomes easy to understand the different masses of different particles, related to their angular momentum: the electron which turns slower in a wider circumferences is far lighter than the proton that turns faster in a smaller space, which is lighter than the black hole which turns to the limit of speed of our World, the speed of light, the substance of which our electromagnetic Russian doll is made. And vice versa: The opposite type of movement, the lineal movement of a ray of light, is massless because it has no inertia to remain in a given point. It doesn’t create a circle retuning to the same place but always moves ahead. That is why lineal particles in movement display minimal mass and light has no mass at all. Today, the previous picture of a vortex of space-time dragging masses into a black hole has become a common place in analogical research of black holes to the point that physicists study them in comparison with a fluid falling into a wave (). It is a very pertinent comparison. The difference is that what it falls in the black hole are the tiniest forms of our Universe, strings and their composite forms, quarks and gluons. That is why a black hole erases reality: it sucks, folds and packages in the form of a super fluid, all the quarks and matter of our Universe… In fact, the prove of that theory has come with the fist experiments that tried to make a black hole in Brookhaven, a collider far smaller than the CERN collider, just a year ago….
The mathematical modeling of cyclones has been verified by the practical observation. According to the actual observation, a large tornado, which is a cyclone with suction, often harbors multiple suction vortices inside the column of dust, and subsidiary whirls continually form and dissipate around the bottom edges of a tornado. So happens, it seems, for what we have seen in the last experiments, with a black hole, which is very likely a Tornado made of quarks…
9. Putting the puzzle together: vortices of quarks

In that sense, our growing understanding of masses in terms of a fluid, relativistic vortex is an interesting prove of the distance between maths and reality, since mathematics merely offer an abstract, simplified picture of reality with equations we have to interpret in terms of ‘real objects’ observed in the Universe. That is the case of a mass, which once Einstein’s equations were published was first depicted as in the left picture, like a ball that was curving downwards the space-time of the Universe. But that image is not logic and has no relationship with the Universe we observe. So physicists moved recently towards the second more logical and realistic version of the vortex of mass, curving inwards, illustrated by a fluid or gas vortex in pictures 2 (a fluid vortex) and 3 (a hurricane). This 3rd picture of the hurricane applied by analogy to a mass vortex, shows clearly what probably happens in a black hole. Each of the mini vortex that accelerate inwards towards the center of the black hole could be a quark, which acquires mass, rotates faster, diminish in length (all according to Relativity and the so-called Lorentz equations) and comes inwards towards the singularity, in which it fusions with other quarks into a single diminishing vortex, that packs very close one quark after another (in a state of highly ordered matter, called a ‘bosonic state’) turning at light speeds.
Now, an important fact of those states that defy our common sense, due to their extreme conditions, is the fact that they are considered states proper of living organisms, which are both liquid systems and highly ordered systems that perform activities in the limits of the physical reality. To study them we equations much more complex than the ones used by Hawking and others. The so called equations of far from equilibrium systems, that also help our understanding of black hole super fluid quark vortices. I state this now, because in many ways, black holes seem to have not abstract properties but rather properties of far from equilibrium, evolved organic systems. In many ways as we shall see when we study the role of black holes in galaxies, galaxies resemble the simplest of all organic systems, the cell in which black holes play the key role.
All this said, about black holes, it looks even more surprising that CERN could ever thought to be a brilliant idea to manufacture them… How it is possible so much irresponsibility, precisely among the people that better know the work of Einstein and the New Physics of ‘far from equilibrium systems’ () that are evolving the field of science merging, physics, biology and system sciences, into a single discipline that tries to put them all together? After all, even before we, system scientists and cosmologists started to use chaotic equations to describe life forms and galactic events, it was a Physicist who discovered the existence of highly ordered systems, in situations that defy current wisdom due to its extreme energies and speeds, by studying how photons in laser and maser systems organized themselves spontaneously to move at light speeds. The phenomena had been only theorized for biological systems, but there is now a wealth of physical knowledge that uses those biological laws to describe physical systems. So the black hole, super fluid quark system is rather obviously one of such extremely stable physical objects that will probably behave as any other organic system, with an explosive initial growth curve, similar to those observed in big bans and baby holes across the Universe.
